Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician from the United States. Born on the 20th of October 1964, she is the 49th Vice-President of the United States. She is also the first female vice-president and highest-ranking female official of U.S. History, as also the first African American and second Asian American vice president. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously served as the attorney general for California between 2011 and 2017 and also as the state's attorney general from 2011 to 2017 and as a United States senator representing California from 2017 until 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Her professional career started in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected district attorney of San Francisco. She was elected Attorney general of California in 2010. In 2014, she won re-election. Harris served as the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sánchez in the 2016 Senate elections to become the second African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as senator in the United States Senate. As Senator, Harris was a vocal advocate for healthcare, federal de-scheduling and the legalization of cannabis as a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She is well-known for her direct questioning of Trump government officials in Senate hearings.
